Lets travel back in time..Before super
highways and cell phones.......
The TV cabinet was huge, but the
screen ...probably not !! There were 3
channels and a black and white picture.
The phone came in one color..black..
with a rotary dial...and a cord that was
way too short !!!
At the edge of town was a service
station. The gas pumps had numbers
on a rotating dial and a bell. Beside that
garage was usually an old rusty truck
with the garage name on it.
Out front, or just inside the door, sat a
cooler full of cold drinks. Water and air
for your tires were free. An actual
person with greasy hands, pumped
your gas, checked your oil, and gave
you change if you had it coming. All
that without ever leaving your car or
scanning a card.
If you went inside you might get a free
calendar for the dash. or maybe some
green soap shaped like a dinosaur for
the kids.
That same man with greasy hands
probably worked on the local farm
trucks and maybe did a little racing on
Saturday night.
